App Indexing is the term given to the indexing of content by search engines for information within mobile apps. The purpose of App Indexing is to ensure that, when a user types a query into a browser on their mobile device that can be addressed by an app they have on their device, Google can create a “deep link” that leads the user to the in-app content. Meanwhile, if the user does not have the app, Google will create an install card to be displayed on the search engine results page.
Why is App Indexing important?
When an app is indexed by Google, it can help that app get shared more when a web user appears to be searching for that app. For users who already have the app, it’s a useful way to remind web users that they have the app. In this way, app indexing can help push mobile users to reengage with certain apps.
