Sometimes referred to as a gateway page, a jump page or a bridge page, a doorway page is a page on a website that has been optimised for one or more keywords with the intention of signposting visitors onto another page.
This redirection sometimes takes place automatically if the web page features a meta-refresh script. It can also take place when a user clicks on a link that will lead them to the destination page desired by the website owner. This is often done misleadingly, so this practice is frowned upon in the industry and websites caught performing it can be penalised or even removed from a search engine’s index.
