Google Panda is the name of a Google algorithm that was released by the search engine firm in February 2011. The purpose of the algorithm is to demote websites that contain poor-quality content, as well as to demote websites that appear to be manipulating Google’s ranking system.
Unlike other algorithms, Panda is designed to demote the entire website, rather than certain indexed webpages. The Panda algorithm was integrated into Google’s main algorithm in 2013 and further optimised. Those websites penalised by Panda can recover from their demotion by rectifying their webpages and resolving the issues that led them to be demoted.
