Backlinks are essential for search engine optimization (SEO). You likely already know that by now. With high-quality, high-authority backlinks, you can push your content towards the top of the Google Search mountain.

However, there is an element you cannot overlook: backlink indexing.

You need to know how to get backlinks indexed; otherwise, your SEO profile won’t gain any ‘link juice.’ In the same way your website has to be indexed to show in search results, you must index backlinks for the same rationale. We have all this covered in our guide on How to Get Your Backlinks Indexing.

Yet, when learning how to index backlinks and putting this knowledge into action, you will quickly realize an issue: the indexing process can be slow. How long do backlinks take to get indexed? You could be waiting up to ten weeks for a new backlink addition to land in Google’s index.

That’s not ideal.

Fortunately, there are methods for indexing backlinks with speed, and that’s where this guide takes center stage. If you want to learn how to index backlinks fast, here are the important tips to consider:

Use the URL Inspection Tool

From a backlink analysis to monitoring website traffic, no SEO strategy is complete without the Google Search Console. It has many different features to support your efforts to climb the search rankings. As for index backlinks, one feature of the GSC you need to start using is the URL Inspection Tool.

The URL Inspection Tool is found via GSC’s left sidebar. Simply grab the backlink URL, enter it into the tool, and conduct an inspection by hitting ‘Enter’. You are then presented with the option to ‘Request Indexing’. This leads to the page being recrawled by Google, resulting in the backlinks on said page being indexed. Easy, fast, effective.

However, there are two steps to follow to get backlinks indexed correctly with this method. Firstly, you have to know the backlink’s exact URL. You can do this with a backlink checker tool. The second step is a little trickier. This requires you to have some form of relationship with the website owner that is sharing your backlink. The reason? You have to verify the domain’s ownership before submitting another site’s page through GSC.

Post Across Social Media

When thinking about how to index backlinks fast, it is unlikely social media would immediately pop into your head. However, the likes of Twitter/X and LinkedIn can be powerful weapons in your backlink indexing efforts. It is true!

Twitter/X is known for being the most relevant social media backlink indexer solution. After joining forces with the platform back in 2015, Google indexes Tweets in real-time. As a result, if you post a Tweet containing your backlinks, these will be recognized – and crawled – by Google, at least, in theory. There is a caveat to the process.

Ultimately, countless Tweets are fired out every hour of every day. Even the almighty Google, with its wealth of resources, cannot index all of these Tweets. Because of this, you have to ensure your posts stand out from the crowd and encourage interaction. The more likes, Retweets, and replies, the more chance of Google indexing backlinks your share across Twitter/X.

Use Third-Party Backlink Index Tools

The URL Inspection Tool isn’t the only backlink indexer tool available. In fact, there are various third-party solutions on the market today. These tools let search engines know your website’s content has undergone any changes. Along with keeping them in the know about when you’ve added pages or updated them with new content, this is a great way to ping backlinks and notify Google about new links you have generated.

One Hour Indexing (often spelled as Onehourindexing) is one of the most popular backlink indexer tools around. With Onehourindexing, you don’t have to install a protocol to ping backlinks. This is because a proprietary system – one hidden from the general public – is used by the tool to index backlinks. This makes it an easy, fast method to index backlinks – although Onehourindexing does start at $17 per month to use.

As for a free backlink indexer, IndexNow is recommended. Yes, for the tool to work, you need to incorporate their ping protocol, and this can be tricky to pull off if you’re not tech-savvy. However, it is great to ping backlinks and even complete general indexing for your site’s content.

Focus On High-Authority Websites for Links

If you have ever done competitor analysis to see why your rivals are ranking higher with their content, the answer will usually come from their link profile. More specifically, it will be down to the high-authority websites they have added to their backlink repertoire.

Ultimately, high-authority sites are the key to everything regarding backlinks. SEO performance, attracting Google’s interest, index backlinks – everything. In terms of indexing, when links are obtained from well-established sites, they are indexed straight away. No delay.

Admittedly, getting these links is the hardest challenge in the SEO game. That is where the likes of our HARO Link Building and general Resource Link Building can make all the difference.

Use Your Own Website to Post Backlinks

As for how to index backlinks fast, one of the savviest tactics involves your own website. Remember the GSC URL Inspection Tool and the sticking point of knowing the site owner who produced the backlink? Posting backlinks on your site can be a useful workaround.

Add a link to your site. Go to GSC. Use the URL Inspection Tool. Click the ‘Request Indexing’ button. That’s all you need to do for the backlink to be discovered by Google’s bots. Once done, you can tidy up and remove the backlink without clogging up your site’s content.

Conclusion

From keyword research to the right anchor text ratios, a lot of work goes into SEO. Some tasks are big, while some are relatively minor. Yet they are all essential ingredients for a campaign that fires on all cylinders, and that includes indexing backlinks. With the tips above, you can get those links indexed faster than ever.
