If you have created a website, you may have embarked on an SEO Keyword strategy to rank highly in the search engines. After taking the time to research keywords and optimise every landing page, you will more than likely be eager to find out where do I rank on Google.

But, discovering your website’s keyword ranking on Google can be both time-consuming and complex. If you want to master your marketing, learn more about Google rankings now.

Google Prevents Programs Checking Your Rank

Unfortunately, Google prevents programs from checking their search position. Sadly, there are many misleading websites which claim to provide this service. As a result, this can lead to incorrect findings, and it could even put your website in violation of Google’s terms of service, which could lead to penalisation.

According to Google’s webmaster guidelines: Don’t use unauthorised computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service.”

How to Find Where You Rank on Google

Google might not allow websites to check their search position, but there are a number of ways you can identify if your SEO tactics are working. For example, you can:

  1. Perform a Manual Search

Unfortunately, a manual search can be time-consuming, as you will need to input each keyword to identify your Google rank. It is, however, important to remember that different Google servers can produce different results. It might be wise to perform an incognito search instead. You also will not be penalised by Google for a manual search.

  2. Use Web Analytics Software

As stated, a manual search can be tedious, which is why you should use web analytics software, such as Google Analytics. This data will not only help you to identify your most popular URLs, but they’ll also detail the organic or paid search referral. Also, a referrer from Google will state the page number where the URL was found.

  3. Review Google Webmaster Tools

Visit the search queries section of Google Webmaster tools, and you can learn more about the different keywords your visitors used to find your website. You can then click on each keyword to identify the position in the search engine result pages.

How to Rank on Google

If you have analysed your site’s rank using the above tactics, you could be disappointed by your findings. Thankfully, there are a variety of tactics you can try to shoot up the search engines and rank on the first results pages. For example, you could focus on improving your on-site SEO, such as:

  • writing click-worthy meta descriptions
  • using outbound links
  • strategically incorporating keywords into your landing pages

You should also focus on posting longer content, as the average top ranking posts are somewhere between 1,140 words to 1,285 words.

Off-page SEO tactics should also be your company’s top priority for a better Google ranking. These are techniques that go beyond website optimisation. You must endeavour to build high-quality backlinks to your site, which can help you to rank higher in the SERPs and drive a flurry of traffic to your site. You can do so by:

  • securing guest posts on high authority websites
  • publishing press releases
  • writing content people want to link to
  • social media promotion

As a result, you will increase your authority and trustworthiness to the search engines, which can help your site rank much higher in Google.
