Are you looking to expand your agency?

While many businesses are still struggling to recover from the effects of the pandemic and find their feet in the new business climate, the world of online marketing has gone from strength to strength.

That being said, with so many other agencies to compete with, it can still be a challenge to scale upwards.

In the below post, we will talk you through all the best strategies to scale your agency while still maintaining the same high level of service that your clients expect.

1. Develop a strong brand identity

If you want to expand your agency, then you first need to make sure that you have a strong brand identity so that your clients understand what you represent and what your core values are.

A strong brand identity will not help you to retain existing customers but it will also help you to attract new ones. There are several steps that you can take to create a recognizable brand that is guaranteed to stand out from the crowd:

  • Make sure you know who you are, i.e., your brand voice, personality, and core values
  • Have consistent branding across all channels, including your website, social media pages, etc.
  • Understand your target audience and your competitors

2. Re-evaluate your buyer personas

The next step in building a structure for scalable growth is to re-evaluate your buyer personas. The online marketplace has changed irrevocably in the last few years, so you need to make sure that you know what your customers want right now in the current climate.

Take the time to re-do your customer research and create new buyer personas. It can be useful to ask the below questions:

  • Are your clients offering new services?
  • How have their processes been affected?
  • How have their clients been affected?
  • What is the number 1 priority for their clients?

All of these questions will help you to better understand how to service your customers and, in turn, bring in more business.

3. Establish yourself as a go-to authority

One of the most effective ways to grow your business is to establish yourself as a go-to authority within your niche. This can be achieved by building a strong brand identity as laid out in step 1 and creating valuable content that educates and informs your target audience.

Other ways in which you can establish yourself as an expert in your field include:

  • Network with other industry leaders
  • Become a member of leading organizations or associations within the industry
  • Hire the best talent
  • Listen to your clients, find out their problems, and offer solutions
  • Invest in white label SEO – you can introduce new services to your clients without getting training with this and immediately become an expert, competing successfully!

It can take time to establish yourself as a go-to authority in the competitive world of online marketing but believe us when we say it is more than worth the effort.

4. Upgrade your software systems

You cannot hope to scale your agency if you do not have the right software systems in place to help you do so. Before you start to bring in more customers, you need to make sure you have the software, tech, and tools to accommodate this growth.

Fortunately, new software is being created all the time, with lots of innovative systems that are designed to streamline your operations and make growing your business a lot more manageable.

You may also want to invest in a professional management system that will enable you to automate all the processes in your business from 1 single platform, including:

  • Your social media posts
  • Your content, including creation and promotion
  • Your email marketing

5. Hire a diverse workforce

If you want to enjoy agency growth in the next decade and beyond, then you need to have the right team behind you. However, it is not simply enough to find the best candidates and convince them to join your agency. In today’s highly competitive marketplace, you need to bring something new to the table. You need to embrace diversity.

Everyone sees the world differently, so if you want to attract new customers and scale your business, you need to be able to resonate with a wider audience. A diverse workforce can also help you to gain new perspectives and come up with fresh ideas, both of which are crucial to staying 1 step ahead of your competition.

Other benefits of hiring a diverse workforce include:

  • Foster a good company culture
  • Drives economic growth
  • Builds trust between your employees and management
  • Enhances strategic planning
  • Improves product development

6. Focus on user experience

Never underestimate the importance of a great user experience when it comes to growing your business. People are expecting more and more from their preferred brands. They will take their custom elsewhere if they do not get the service they expect. In fact, according to recent research, 89% of consumers began doing business with a competitor because of a poor customer experience.

You may be in the unique position of being able to help your clients create a memorable user experience for their clients, but you also need to make sure you do the same for them.

Some of the best ways that you can deliver a good user experience include:

  • Clearly show the value of your services on your website
  • Minimize the number of clicks it takes for users to find things on your site
  • Ensure your website is mobile-friendly
  • Create engaging and relevant content

When it comes to a user experience, the key is to never rest on your laurels. Always strive to make it better for your customers and keep them coming back for more.

7. Create great content

As mentioned briefly above, you need to create great content to keep your customers engaged with your brand. If you do not currently have a content marketing strategy in place, then now is definitely the time to build yours. While it does take time and effort to create valuable content on a consistent basis, you will be rewarded with increased customer engagement, enhanced brand presence, and, ultimately, more sales for many years to come.

There are lots of different examples of content marketing that you can utilize to attract new customers, including:

  • Blog posts
  • Emails
  • Newsletters
  • Social media posts
  • Podcasts
  • eBooks
  • Videos

It can also be highly beneficial to create a content calendar to manage the distribution of your content, as this will help to ensure you can offer your clients a consistent service.

8. Offer tiered solutions

Another highly effective method for optimizing your digital marketing agency and bringing in more business is to offer tiered solutions. Many businesses are struggling in the current climate and may not be able to afford a fully comprehensive service. Therefore, it can be highly useful to offer a basic package that allows businesses to try your services with minimal investment.

Make sure that you also offer at least 2 other tiered offers that include more services and more competitive pricing. This strategy to scale your agency can also enable you to upsell to your existing clients by offering them additional services at a lower rate.

Consider offering a free trial of your basic package to encourage new clients to sign up with your agency.

9. Track time & productivity

As your agency grows, you may find it hard to track each individual’s work and progress. Fortunately, there is a simple solution. Track everyone’s time and productivity levels simultaneously.

There are several online management tools that you can use to track how your employees spend their time and ensure everyone is on the same page. Time management software is particularly important for remote employees as it allows you to keep track of how they manage their workflow without micromanaging.

Alternatively, you can create your own timesheets that your employees can fill out at the end of each day. However, be warned – these can be time-consuming and not as efficient as an online management tool.

10. Look at the bigger picture

Scaling your agency may feel overwhelming at times. If this happens to you, it can be a good idea to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Think about what you want to achieve in the next 10 years, and then set manageable goals for you and your team to aim for.

If you encounter a problem or setback, try to look at your progress from an outsider’s perspective. Doing this can help you to gain fresh insight into what is holding you back and enable you to create effective solutions for moving forwards.
