A domain name is the human-friendly address of a website, helping web users locate resources across the internet. When domain names are keyed into browsers, a query is sent to a DNS server to determine where that domain is located on the internet. Once the IP address of that domain is located, the browser can successfully navigate to that website’s server. The process takes a small fraction of a second.
How are domain names registered?
It’s simple for anyone to register a domain name. Domain name registrars such as GoDaddy enable webmasters to search for available names that haven’t been bought or used by someone else. To secure their desired domain name, they will have to pay a small fee.
