Google Penguin

SEOSEO History

Google Penguin is one of many algorithms released by Google. It was first released in April 2012 in order to identify and filter out spam webpages from search results. Specifically, Penguin attempts to locate the practice of keyword stuffing and link schemes (such as link farms), which are understood to be used in order to artificially inflate the rank of certain spam webpages.

After a series of updates, Penguin became part of the overall Google algorithm in 2016. It’s now used to assess websites in real time, helping demote or deindex websites that appear to be spam.
