Following on from the early internet in the 1990s, Web 2.0 is the term given to the form of the internet popularised in the 2000s. Usually, Web 2.0 will refer to websites that support User-Generated Content (UGC). These websites include social media websites, blogging networks, and forums.  

Another feature of Web 2.0 is the development of user-friendly intersects for people to create their own websites or platforms, either to connect with friends or to promote their business. Platforms that have come to epitomise the Web 2.0 revolution include Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, and other famous social media websites.
